On March 19th, DAHEI hosted a special in person meet and greet in Dominica at the Kalinago Barana Autê, located in the Kalinago Territory. Approximately 16 DAHEI scholars and their parents gathered for what became a truly meaningful milestone. The event marked our first time meeting face-to-face with the students and their families and well as members of the community.
The day was filled with connection, appreciation, culture, and celebration. Families bonded while learning about Kalinago history through a guided tour, supported local artisans by purchasing beautifully handcrafted items such as baskets, jewelry, and fans, and shared a delicious, chef-prepared meal featuring local cuisine.
This milestone reflects DAHEI’s growing impact on the ground in Dominica, fostering not only educational opportunity, but also cultural pride, family engagement, and sustainable community support systems across Dominica.
